You Are Not an Accident. You Are Loved!

   “Let Us make mankind in Our image.”                                              (Genesis 1:26)

This statement is in opposition to the secular view of letting something happen. Or by chance, let time and chance figure it out. But, “Let Us make mankind in Our image.” (Genesis 1:26) That means you were created with intention, choice, and desire. Before you did anything right or wrong and before you posted, achieved, failed, or disappointed anyone, you were wanted. Psalm 139 puts it even more clearly:

“You knit me together in my mother’s womb… all the days ordained for me were written in Your book before one of them came to be.”

You are not a random mistake that has been discovered, but you were designed.

This matters more than you think

If you believe you’re an accident, then your worth is fragile, your future may feel uncertain, your failures feel final, and your pain feels meaningless. But if you believe you were created on purpose, your life has meaning, your existence has dignity, your story has direction, and your pain is not wasted. Believe it!

This is why IDENTITY comes first. Always.

God never starts with rules. He starts with a relationship. Before Israel was given commandments, God said, 

“I am the Lord who brought you out.” 

Before Jesus told His disciples what to do, He told them who they were: 

“You are the light of the world.” 

You don’t behave your way into identity. You live out the identity you’re given.

“But I don’t feel special.”

That’s okay. Feelings aren’t facts. Most people who were chosen in Scripture didn’t feel impressive:

·       David was overlooked

·       Moses doubted himself

·       Gideon felt weak

·       Mary felt unqualified

·       Peter failed loudly

God’s choice doesn’t depend on your confidence. It reveals itself over time. Being made in God’s image doesn’t mean you’re perfect. It means you’re designed with purpose.

The Quiet Lies This Month to Confront

Here’s the lie beneath so much anxiety and depression today: “If I disappeared, nothing would really change.” Scripture says the opposite:

“Before I formed you, I knew you.” (Jeremiah 1:5)

You are not interchangeable. You are not replaceable. There has never been, and will never be, another you. That alone rewrites who you really are.

Your First Step: Claim the Identity.

What is your present identity? Think about it. To grow means change, and nothing changes if nothing changes. Transformation doesn’t start with a massive life overhaul. It begins with a simple exercise after you make one honest decision. God states,

“I create the fruit of your lips.” (Isaiah 57:19)

Say this out loud once a day this week:

“I am not an accident. I am created, known, and wanted by God.”

It might feel awkward. Do it anyway. Truth has to be rehearsed before it’s felt.

Then, this part matters: act from that belief once a day:

·       Set a boundary

·       Speak kindly to yourself

·       Choose rest over burnout

·       Reach out instead of isolating

·       Serve someone quietly

Identity always creates beliefs: Positive and/or Negative.

A final word

You don’t have to prove your worth. You don’t have to earn your existence. You don’t have to compete to matter. You are not here by chance. You are here on purpose.
